So what are these big changes?As I wrote in a post last semester, video games are thriving while other industries are declining. This is most likely due to more people stayong at home, which means more time to play video games, which means that video games will sell better as more people buy them. Due to this, more companies, such as Sony and Microsoft, are investing in video games. One such example of this comes from the acquisition of Bethesda Softworks, which owns the rights to the Elder Scrolls series, which includes the popular Skyrim games. This is largely in response to Sony's Playstation getting more sales than the Xbox One due to more exclusive titles Impact of these changesThe long term effects of this are very similar to those that I have described on other posts similar to this. Buying out another game company creates a whole new group of customers and expands the fans of that game, which is likely why games such as Skyrim are going to be on the rise soon. To sum it up...

About Nintendo's rule in JapanEver since the company's founding in Japan, it has remained the number one bestselling console brand there. This is mostly due to the record breaking sales which the company has enjoyed there. Many companies have tried setting foot in Japan and trying to take away parts of Nintendo's audience, but no such attempts have really worked in a rival company's favor. For example, Nintendo's Switch has about 90% of consoles in Japan, which further demonstrates the company's dominance over its home market. Will it continue?Yes, yes, the "Nintendite Dynasty" will continue in Japan for the forseeable future. It is likely that Nintendo will remain dominant to such a degree, that it is likely a waste of time for other companies to try to invest a lot of money into Japan. For example, Serkan Toto, a game consultant in Japan wrote "All signs point that for the next years, Nintendo will stay king in Japan, and I really don’t understand why Microsoft is still so obsessed with Japan.”. Since Serkan Toto lives in Japan, he likely has a firsthand experience as to what is popular. Overall, the rule of Nintendo is likely to continue in Japan for a very long time. To sum it up...
