Basics
Hello! My name is Owen Howard. I am a twelfth-grader currently enrolled at a high school in Durham, North Carolina, United States of America. I enjoy designing video games. I have been playing Medieval II Total War for quite a while now. Medieval II Total War is a grand strategy game that can be modified with (relative) ease. In 9th, 10th and 11th grade I earned a 4.0 GPA and I was enrolled in four honors classes in my freshman year, four more in my sophomore year, five in junior year and four senior year. My favorite software to use for digital editing and manipulation is 3DS Max, which is a tool used by professionals to create 3D models. I am currently studying Advanced Game Art and Design in the Game Art and Design concentration at Durham School of the Arts in Durham, North Carolina, United States of America.

On and Off Campus Involvements
I have always wanted to create my own game because I want people to know what I am capable of in a very fun way and in a way. I started out just casually editing files in late 2016. Unfortunately, some of my early attempts caused the games to crash. I wondered why this happened, because I watched tutorials on how to modify the selected files. I was baffled early on. I then realized, that in the computer and video game industry, one small error can cause a wide problem. But I then realized that video games have endless possibilities; ones that I wanted to explore. Maybe one day, this skill in game design will earn me a lot of money.
After I experienced this thought, I began to realize that the game design industry had many parts worth exploring, against what I had previously thought that one person did everything. It was then when I remembered all the credits I had seen after a movie was over, telling me about who did what, as to give them credit. This got me more interested into the game industry, so then I began to think about which field in game design I might go into. Even though this is likely not to be my career field, I still hope to use this class to be able to create projects in my own free time later, and to eventually use this class and many other classes in this concentration on my college resume. |
