About the ProcessWhen I went into the planning stage of this project, I wanted to create a log cabin because I was planning on my outpost being on a temperate island and a log cabin would fit better there. However, I then realized that everyone was doing a temperate Island so, in order to make my piece stand out, I knew I had to do something different. So, I thought, hey, why not make a castle? So I dumped into my prior knowledge about castles and with some inspiration from real life castles in Europe and other places, I set about creating my castle. At first I Went with creating a box for the exterior then cloning it to make a keep. However, I soon found that to not be working for me, so I switched to creating separate walls which also made it more modular. Once I had my final plan in motion, I set about creating not just the exterior, but I added in a fifth wall inside that would act as part of the gatehouse and help keep intruders out. I knew I needed to place this vey carefully in order for the second wall to match up with the exterior walls. I ended up duplicating the gatehouse and moving it back a ways inside the castle, so that way it would give the appearance of a second chamber inside the main castle. Once I completed that, I split it into its modular components and submitted my new pre production documents to end the assignment In short...

What was it like coming back?Coming back to 3DS Max was a very interesting experience for me. For one, it allowed me to become acquainted again with the modifiers and tools that 3DS Max provides such as the Chamfer tool which is one of my favorite tools as it allows you to manipulate vertices which is a very useful thing to have to know as I prepare to make my outpost, which I already have a really good idea as to what I want to create, which is a medieval castle. In addition, it also brought back some old frustrations such as how hard it is to work with certain tools such as UVW which brings me back memories of the dreaded robot. What do I want to improve at? One thing that I want to work on is following a tutorial for 3DS Max with anything except for creating a sack and UVW mapping because I usually don't create detailed models with fancy shadows and effects and I like to focus on the sculpting itself which will be a challenge for me. However, I am excited yet at the same time nervous to return to this application. In short
