What is commercial animationCommercial animation, or motion graphics, are graphics that are animated to move in specific ways, usually in commercials, such as the ones we see on TV everyday. The thing that separates motion graphics from the rest of animation is the fact that they are not usually used to tell a story, unlike traditional animation. Before the invention of the computer, creating motion graphics was slow and time consuming. After the invention of the computer, motion graphics became easier to produce and therefore more common, due to it costing less to create motion graphics than before. Why are motion graphics used in commercials?Motion graphics are used in commercials because you don't really need to tell a story about your product unless it is a medicine commercial. Because humans naturally have a higher interest for pictures or graphics than words, this helps companies appeal to people better, as science has shown that humans are more attracted to pictures than to words. When words are doubled with a graphic, it keeps the audience viewing and hearing additional information. Motion graphics may also help to keep the viewers attention on the actual animation and speaker and you not to see the words on the bottom, which may discredit their product. To sum it up...

What types of animations are used in movies? The most common types of movie animation are 2D and 3D animation, which are typically done through the use of computers. Although other types of animation, such as the case of Kubo and the Two Strings, which uses stop motion animation, still do exist in the film industry, but their popularity is on the decline. A case of traditional animation being used in a movie, is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, along with all the other Disney classics, in addition to many animated classics. When and how is CGI used in movies?CGI, or Computer Graphic Imagery, was first pioneered in the 1960's but took off in the 1980's with the release of films such as Star Trek: Wrath of Khan and Indiana Jones. In these cases, CGI was used to make objects that would be hard to create in the real world without it, such as spaceships and monsters. No full movies in CGI were released until 1995, when Toy Story was released, which featured live toys as the subject of animation. Movies like A Bug's Life followed, which used CGI for insects in the movies without all the time and effort needed for claymation. To sum it up...

What is 3D Animation?3D animation is the increasingly more popular alternative to traditional 2D animation. For 3D animation, models are built on the computer, and 3D figures are rigged with a virtual skeleton. Then more fine details are added onto the figure using key frames. After the figure is made, it must be rendered. Which tools are used for 3D animationThe Adobe Suite is one of the most commonly used items for 3D animation, in addition to Autodesk's Maya or 3DS Max. It is also important to note that due to the connection 3D animation shares with normal game development, game engines such as Unity are also viable options. Why did I choose 3D animation?I found that 3D animation was an up and coming field in game art and design, so I decided to take a look at a field which may be big in the future, due to the rise in technologies such as printing. I also chose 3D animation because anything 3D is viewed as good by myself, due to it's use in 3D movies, of which I am a fan. To sum it up...
